I have been addicted to worry as long as I can remember. One year ago my teacher asked me, “who taught you how to worry.” The answer was obvious…sorry Mom. Women are inherently addicted to worry. It’s in the program. Why? Because worry keeps us busy. When we are busy, we pay less attention to those who hold the power. Keeping women busy has long been by design (of the Patriarchy.) It runs deep. Staying worried keeps us controllable, malleable and easy to manipulate.
Breaking free from worry was a lot harder than I thought. It’s insidious. Everywhere I went, everything I did, and even most things I said and thought…there was my pal, Worry. It’s compulsive. Let’s go here…worry. Let’s do this…worry. Worry is a drug. It takes time to kick the habit.
If you have been reading my newsletters for a while, you’ll know that worry and fear have been top of mind for me. I have spent the last year deeply disciplined in the practice of eradicating my compulsion to worry. My teacher calls it my binky. It seems counterintuitive to think that worrying is a security blanket, but I am here to tell you that it is.
You see, we are afraid of who we are without our worry or our fear. What would you do with all that time if you weren’t constantly stressing? Loving and creating…that is what. Working with our fear can be fun! Why? Because our fear is so unoriginal. It’s boring. It stops us from loving with our whole hearts. It blocks our manifestations. So knowing that freedom is on the other side makes it seem all the more worthwhile. Do I want to remain afraid or do I want to see what is possible in this lifetime? There are two choices. The dance is fun. Hard sometimes, definitely. But worth it, YES.
I have created a workshop specific to this work that I think you will really dig. It’s a one hour sesh filled with practical tools to get you to reprogram your fear based thinking and step into love. It’s not fluffy or gimmicky. In fact, it’s a little grimy. For me, its borderline embarrassing how afraid I have been my whole life. Overcoming this has been life changing, and I want to talk about it…with you!
There are almost 70 people signed up who want to do this work with us. How cool! The workshop is only $44 (Canadian) and ALL proceeds go to scholarships for teen girls to go to my teen yoga retreat. You can sign up here and be there live over zoom this Friday at 9am or watch the recording at your convenience.
Really hope to see you there!
And PS…you are the first to know: one spot just became available to my sold out women’s retreat, Ladyvana, in Panama this November. You can snag it here.
Have a beautiful week,
Ally
