A few months ago I shared a tiktok on how my period changed from bleeding on the full moon, to bleeding on the new moon. Over 270K people saw it and hundreds of women commented on what moon they bleed on and how it correlates to the phase of life they are in.
For as long as I can remember, I have always bled on the full moon. This is known as the Red Moon Cycle. In ancient times, it was synonymous with medicine women, the midwives, priestesses and wisdom keepers of the community. The energy of the red moon cycle correlates with service, creative energy and the dark feminine. It has an external, “in the world” type of energy.
As many of you may know, I left a full time job last year to step back into my dreams and desires. When I made that choice, my period shifted to the purple moon cycle, meaning I began to bleed when the full moon was waning. This cycle is synonymous with needing more rest, more listening, and represents a time of transition. It made perfect sense. I was exhausted. I had given my energy out to the world in a huge way and when I finally said, “ I need a break!” my body followed suit. It was a time to pay attention to my own healing, not just the healing of others. It was a sacred portal into my own inner quiet, a time of cocooning and deep listening.
I spent almost a year in that cycle. It was exactly what I needed. My body was reflective of the waning energy of the moon. It was the ultimate wind down as I was planting the seeds of what was to come. In late spring of this year my body eventually synced with the new moon, meaning I was bleeding on the new moon and ovulating on the full moon. I don’t think I have ever bled on this cycle as an adult. It felt like the perfect timing as I began to birth new projects into the world, as well as stepping into new paradigms of what life could really be. All that rest and deep internal healing was a necessary step in this new chapter.
The white moon is all about personal creation. It is about creating for yourself. It also is connected to fertility and birth both literally and metaphorically. Once again, these themes were right on time.
If you are curious, yes… there is a Pink moon cycle too. It is when you bleed on the waxing moon, meaning a time of gaining power and stepping into the light.
Within this wonderful discovery of the changing of moons, I have done much research and spoken to many that hold this wisdom of the moon cycles. It feels like the next layer of the seasons of the cycles work I have been teaching for years. Did you know that each week of our cycle connects to a season: Winter (menstruation) Spring (follicular phase) Summer (ovulatory phase) Fall (luteal phase). When we align with the energy of each phase, we can better care and honour our bodies, hearts and minds.
I am SO passionate about this work that I have decided to lead a workshop via zoom next week that combines both the seasons and the colours of the moon to create a roadmap on how to meet yourself where you are at. I generally reserve this type of work for retreat settings but there is so much interest here from the women in my life, that I thought it is time to share.
Join me next Wednesday, Oct 11th at 6pm PST or watch the recording. If you are someone who menstruates, I promise there is so many valuable insights on how to understand yourself and work with where you are at.
We will explore the attributes of the White, Pink, Purple and Red Moon
We will break down Winter, Fall, Spring and Summer and what you need each week of your cycle
We will dive into the innate wisdom of our bodies using the practical and profound energy of nature
Link is here to join! Note: this is my last workshop until end of November as I will be in Panama for a month leading a training and a retreat!
